The IP Academy, International Educational Conference on Intellectual Property Law, brought together speakers from government bodies, the legal community, major players of the Russian and international IP market and industry experts to discuss the latest trends in the global intellectual property market.
This year, the conference did not only go through a rebranding, it significantly rethought its content on the way of transformation from the Skolkovo Patent School to the IP Academy. The program of the conference featured the vast range of topics, grounded in IP: from the fight against internet piracy to patent analytics, from the tools for commercialization of the latest digital assets to arbitration practice in disputes on IPRs.
The conference was hosted by the Skolkovo Foundation, the Skolkovo Intellectual Property Center, the IPChain Association, the IPQuorum communication brand and the Intellectual Property Federation. The official partners of the event included Bayer, Squire Patton Boggs, Zuikov & Partners, Jacobacci & Partners, Eversheds Sutherland, Borenius, Semyonov & Pevzner, Lidings, Nevsky IP Law, New Century Bank, Research and Educational Center for Intellectual Property Studies and Digital Economy.
Welcoming remarks to the participants of the conference were delivered by Igor Drozdov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Skolkovo Foundation, Andrey Krichevsky, President of the IPChain Association, and Saule Tlevlesova, President of the Eurasian Patent Office.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Pavel Spitsyn, Director of the Representative Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in the Russian Federation, Grigory Ivliev, Head of Rospatent, Elena Avakyan, Executive Director of the Non-Commercial Partnership "Promotion of Corporate Legislation," Oleg Kivokurtsev, co-founder and development director of "Promobot" LLC. The event was moderated by Philip Sterkin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vedomosti.
Every day of the three-day event of IP Academy 2019 had special agenda: “The law of creativity and technologies,” “The Right for markets (traditional and digital),” and “Digital implementation and Protection of Rights (Systems, Services and Competencies)".
In addition to the business and educational blocks, the guests could explore the rich cultural program.
At the end of the conference, all participants received the graduate certificates of the IP Academy courses. The attendees were granted free access to the world’s largest databases of patent analytics data and academic publications, a consultation with an expert in the area of their interest and the subscription to all publications of the Patent School, IP Academy and IPQuorum.
